Rudeness was the prerogative of great age, perhaps: Caldane's great-grandmother must be nearly two centuries old and none the duller for it, despite her mumble-gums.
Jame's narration, Seeker's Mask,
"Part IV: Restormir", VI

Lady Cattila is Caineron Matriarch, and Caldane's great-grandmother. She doesn't think much of Caldane,[3][4] and he avoids talking to her whenever he can.[2]

Cattila was a very old woman shaped like a slightly squashed apple dumpling.[5]

Like all lords and matriarchs, Cattila is Shanir with the power to bind Kencyr to her. She can also form bonds with animals, and had a bond to foxkin around Restormir, who served as her eyes.[6]
