Sere was a Kendar randon of house Knorth. He was Winter's mate. In the battle of the White Hills, he came at Winter crazed with the Highlord's madness in a berserker rage, and she killed him to save their unborn child Tob.
Sere appears in person in "Hearts of Woven Shadow". In To Ride a Rathorn, when Torisen is straining under the weight of remembering all the dead Knorth, Sere is one of the ones who cries out to him, begging to be remembered.
- ↑ To Ride a Rathorn, "Chapter XXII: Casting the Stones", III — " 'And that other must be Sere, Winter's mate. Don't you remember his face painted on the walls of our parents' bedroom?' "
- ↑ Blood and Ivory: A Tapestry, "Among the Dead" — "Anar hadn't mentioned the White Hills. 'Were you there?' […] 'Yes,' she said, without turning. 'Sere was too. He came at me in battle with the Highlord's madness in his eyes, and I killed him for the sake of our unborn child.' "
- ↑ Blood and Ivory: A Tapestry, "Hearts of Woven Shadow" — " 'I'd like to know how,' muttered the tall Kendar named Sere."
- ↑ To Ride a Rathorn, "Chapter XXII: Casting the Stones", III — " 'Remember me!' dry voices cried from the ashes of the past, from the crack and greedy hiss of the pyre. […] 'I fought beside your father in the White Hills, and died at the hands of my own mate for the sake of our unborn child.' "
